Sacramental Formation
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
Rite of Christian Initiation of Children (and Teens) RCIC
RCIA/RCIC is coordinated by a team comprised by a
director and six to eight members, as well as sponsors for all inquirers.
This ministry guides all individuals who sincerely seek to learn about the
Roman Catholic faith on a "Faith Journey", hopefully culminating
with their reception of the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism,
Confirmation, and Eucharist) on Holy Saturday night at the Easter Vigil
Mass. Weekly meetings consist of instructions in the teachings,
doctrine, traditions, sacraments, liturgy, etc. of the Roman Catholic
faith.
Meetings: RCIA--Monday, 7:00 p.m.;
RCIC--Tuesday, 5:30 p.m.
St. Jude's Baptism Team
This team of couples prepares registered parishioners
for the Sacrament of Baptism. Discussions are held on the parents;
and godparents; responsibilities. Details are given on scheduling
the baptismal ceremony. Baptism class must be attended before a child will
be baptized.
Meetings: Last Thursday of every month
Sponsor Couples--Marriage Preparation
Martha Steffek, 866-2537
The Sponsor Couples program is one of the most popular
forms of marriage preparation in the American Catholic Church--a form of
one-to-one ministry. A married couple in the parish welcomes an
engaged couple into their home for three to five separate evenings,
sharing their experience of marriage, while at the same time helping the
engaged discuss important aspects of their present and future
relationship. (We try to get our couples together once a year for a
social. It is a time to say thanks and to visit and share
experiences encountered with the engaged.) This is a fun ministry
and one you can do together with your spouse. In fact, married
couples get more out of the program than the engaged in many cases.
This is a great way to spice up your marriage!
